Future Earth Open Network

Dear IMBER friends,

The condensed read: we would like you to be an ambassador for the Future Earth Open Network! Click the link to take this 3-minute survey to help Future Earth build a dynamic, vibrant online platform: the Future Earth Open Network. And then encourage your network to complete the survey too.

In the last 18 months Future Earth has attracted huge interest from the research community and stakeholders worldwide asking how to engage with Future Earth. Traditionally the global environmental change programmes have engaged researchers through joining scientific steering committees and participating in the suite of projects. This is still relevant but we want to offer more and create a larger, open, vibrant research community using the latest digital technology to allow our community to engage with one another, share ideas, build relationships, catalyse projects and discuss global sustainability science - the Future Earth Open Network. No such platform exists at present that delivers all these needs. But we are working with technology providers and with potential partners (e.g. we are in discussion with AAAS).

We need your input so that we can develop this together. This will help ensure it is useful to the people who need to use it. This is why we have developed a survey that should take 3 minutes to complete. It will tell us what essential functions we need to include.

We would like to ask you to be an ambassador for this initiative by

1. Completing the survey as soon as you can

2. Encouraging people in your network to complete it too

This new Open Network for Future Earth (beta version launched in February/March) will provide the foundation for our Knowledge-Action Networks around key focal areas which will be launched in 2016 and 2017.

We will send a reminder in a couple of days. We will be doing more user testing and surveys in the coming months as the project develops.

Thank you for your support!

With best regards,

Erik on behalf of the Future Earth Secretariat
