Call for comments on the Draft Implementation Plan for the EXport Processes in the Ocean from RemoTe Sensing” (EXPORTS) program

More info: http://cce.nasa.gov/obb/exports/ip_2016.html

The goal of the “EXport Processes in the Ocean from RemoTe Sensing” (EXPORTS) field campaign is to develop a predictive understanding of the export and fate of net primary production and its implications for the ocean’s carbon cycle. EXPORTS builds upon decades of NASA-supported research assessing global NPP. The EXPORTS Science Plan has already been thoroughly vetted by the community.

NASA formed a Science Definition Team (SDT) to draft an Implementation Plan for EXPORTS. A draft of that plan is now available for comment (http://cce.nasa.gov/obb/exports/ip_2016.html). The SDT requests comments concerning how effectively the draft Implementation Plan addresses the EXPORTS Science Plan. The SDT is especially interested in comments regarding alternative descoping options and costing strategies, potential partnerships, implementation timeline, project and data management as well as capacities not reflected in the plan. The EXPORTS program does not yet exist and may not unless the ocean science community communicates that it is an important research priority.
