Rashid Sumaila has won the Peter Benchley Ocean Award for Excellence in Science
This award is presented to someone who “has advanced the cause of understanding ocean processes, marine ecology and conservation biology.” In Rashid´s case it is in recognition of his work on sustainable fisheries around the world.
Rashid is Professor and Director of the Fisheries Economics Research Unit at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada.
Rashid is a stalwart supporter of the IMBER ClimEco summer schools and has proved himself to be a superb teacher as well as the excellent scientist that this award acknowledges. Well done, Rashid!
