We are pleased to welcome Juliano Palacios Abrantes as the new Co-Chair of IMBeR’s Interdisciplinary Marine Early Career Network (IMECaN), from 1 August 2024.
Juliano Palacios Abrantes is a Postdoctoral Associate at the Institute for the Oceans and Fisheries of the University of British Columbia. His research focuses on how climate change is shifting the distribution of marine species, generating uncertain feedback on ecosystems and dependent human communities. He is particularly interested in how these shifts affect international shared fish stocks, threatening their sustainability and accentuating sources of conflict. His work emphasizes the importance of adaptive, collaborative, equitable, and ecosystem-based management strategies. We anticipate collaborating with Juliano and Shenghui, and look forward to the events and activities that will unfold under their leadership.
Many Thanks to the Outgoing Co-Chairs
We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Laura Kaikkonen and Rebecca Shellock for their invaluable contributions and dedication to IMECaN. Laura and Rebecca have served as Co-Chairs since 2023, and we deeply appreciate their efforts and commitment during their tenure.
