Regional Programmes
A network of complementary regional research programmes is essential for the effective implementation of IMBeR. Currently, IMBeR has four regional programmes: CLIOTOP, ESSAS, ICED and SIBER. Regional programmes play an important role in furthering the science goals of IMBeR. By comparing diverse ecosystems, new understanding will emerge about the potential effects of climate and human-induced changes on biogeochemical cycling, food web dynamics, and the societies that are impacted by these changes.
Regional programmes are encouraged to develop implementation plans that facilitate collaboration and communication between individual and national projects.
