The “Expanding Earth Observation Data Applications to Empower Marine Biosphere Responses to Climate Change (EO-WPI) program was jointly funded by the European Space Agency and Future Earth to the State Key Laboratory of Estuarine and Coastal Research, East China Normal University in 2023. This program stems from the ongoing IMBeR study group activities of the Ocean Colour-based Plant species identification and Carbon flux in the Indo-Pacific oceans (OCPC). A series of online training workshops and one on-site training workshop are scheduled, with 13 trainees selected from Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Malaysia. The first session of the EO-WPI Online Training took place on 25 May. Prof. Mati Kahru from Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UCSD, gave a lecture on Creating and analyzing time series from satellite data. Dr. Yan Bai from the Second Institute of Oceanography, MNR, gave a lecture on Satellite-based ocean carbon fluxes estimation. Please register to watch the recording and stay tuned for future activities.
