IMBeR at XMAS 2025 in Xiamen

The 7th Xiamen Symposium on Marine Environmental Sciences (XMAS) took place from 14-17 January 2025 in Xiamen, China, under the theme “Transformative Science and Technology for a Sustainable Ocean”. IMBeR network members and the International Project Office (IPO) actively contributed to the symposium, engaging in discussions and sharing insights on ocean sustainability, capacity building, and interdisciplinary research.

contributed to the session “The River-Estuary-Bay Continuum: Unveiling the Carbon and Nitrogen Cycles Under Global Change”.

Gerhard J. Herndl, Past Member of the IMBeR Scientific Steering Committee,
delivered a keynote presentation titled “The Ocean’s Interior and Its Role in Carbon Cycling”.

Juliano Palacios Abrantes, Co-Chair of IMBeR’s Interdisciplinary Marine Early Career Network (IMECaN), introduced IMECaN’s role in supporting capacity building, ocean literacy, and collaborative leadership of early career researchers.
