On 8 April 2026, IMBeR held its Interim Executive Committee Meeting in two online sessions to accommodate different time zones. The meeting focused on four main agenda items: (1) updates since the Executive Committee meeting in August 2025; (2) budget discussion and financial planning; (3) the IMBeR 3.0 proposal development process; and (4) preparations for reporting to the SCOR 2026 Annual Meeting.
The meeting reviewed progress since August 2025, including international engagement through IMBeR delegates, major synthesis publications, and updates on working groups. The Committee examined budget implementation and arrangements for the use of funds, with an emphasis on strategic allocation to support proposal writing activities.
Regarding the IMBeR 3.0 science plan, participants agreed on the need to further refine the existing three themes, formulate key scientific questions, and develop thematic outlines for writing. Platform development will be led by the IPO, focusing on organisational and management mechanisms, integration of existing networks and resources in response to emerging needs, data platforms, training and capacity development, and communication and networking.
The meeting agreed to proceed with the identification of theme leads and the establishment of writing teams, with a draft IMBeR 3.0 plan expected by October 2026.
Representatives from the SCOR and the Future Earth were engaged in IMBeR activities.
